We collect information to provide and improve JurisAid. The types of information we collect include:

We process your data under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) on the following bases:

• Contract performance: To provide, maintain, and improve our AI analysis, drafting, search, and related tools you subscribe to or use.
• Legitimate interest: To secure the platform, prevent abuse, improve product quality, and understand aggregate usage patterns.
• Consent: For optional analytics cookies and promotional emails, which you can withdraw at any time.

Specifically, we use your information to:

• Run the service: Process your submissions through our AI tools and deliver results to you.
• Transactional communication: Send receipts, billing notices, security alerts, password resets, and other account-related messages you cannot opt out of while your account is active.
• Promotional communication: Send practice tips, product updates, and newsletters only where permitted. You can unsubscribe via the link in any promotional email or by contacting us.
• Personalization: Tailor features and defaults to your plan and usage where applicable.
• Security: Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, and unauthorized access.

JurisAid uses artificial intelligence to power its legal research and drafting tools. When you submit text or documents, that content is sent to Google Gemini (via the Google Generative AI API) to generate responses.

• AI inference is necessary to deliver the service. Without sending your content to our AI provider, we cannot generate analyses, drafts, or search results for you.
• JurisAid does not use your submissions to train its own models.
• We do not use your uploaded content for marketing or any purpose unrelated to providing the service to you.
• Google processes data according to its own terms and privacy policies for API customers. We encourage you to review Google's Gemini API terms for details on how Google handles API data.
• We may cache AI-generated results (keyed by a hash of the input, not linked to your identity) to improve response speed for similar requests.

JurisAid offers an in-app Privacy Mode you can toggle on during a session. When Privacy Mode is active:

• Your analysis history is not saved to your account for that session.
• Server-side activity logs tied to your account are not recorded for that session.
• Analytics events (PostHog and Google Analytics) are not sent for that session.

What Privacy Mode does not do: It does not stop AI processing. Your submissions are still sent to Google Gemini so the tool can work. Credits still apply for completed actions.

Privacy Mode is session-scoped. It resets when you close your browser tab or session. For persistent control over stored history, use Settings > Data & Storage > Purge History, or request full account deletion (see Your Rights below).

• Free plan analysis history: Stored for 24 hours, then automatically removed.
• Paid plan analysis history: Retained until you delete it via Settings > Data & Storage, or until your account is closed.
• Account profile and billing records: Retained while your account is active and for up to 7 years afterward where required for tax, accounting, or legal obligations.
• Usage activity logs: Retained for up to 24 months for product analytics and support, unless you use Privacy Mode for a given session.
• Cached AI results: Retained to improve response speed. Cache entries are keyed by input hash and are not directly tied to your account identity.

We use trusted third-party providers to operate JurisAid. We do not sell your personal data. Our key service providers include:

These providers may process data in data centers outside Nigeria, including in the United States and European Union. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on contractual safeguards and the security practices of our providers.

We do not sell your personal data. We only share information in the following limited circumstances:

• With the service providers listed above, solely to operate JurisAid on your behalf.
• To comply with legal obligations, court orders, or valid government requests.
• To enforce our Terms of Service or protect the rights, privacy, safety, or property of JurisAid, our users, or the public.

We use cookies and similar technologies to run JurisAid, remember your preferences, and understand how the product is used. Essential cookies are required for sign-in and security. Analytics cookies are optional and only load if you choose Accept analytics on our cookie banner.

Analytics providers we use

Sentry is separate from analytics cookies. We use it to monitor application errors so we can fix bugs that affect real users. It runs for operational reliability and is not controlled by the analytics cookie banner.

• PostHog helps us improve product features (for example, which tools are used and where users get stuck). When you turn on Privacy Mode in the app, we stop sending analytics events tied to your session.
• Google Analytics (GA4) helps us understand traffic sources and marketing performance. You can opt out of Google Analytics across sites using Google's browser add-on: Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

You can Decline analytics cookies in our banner and still use JurisAid. You may also instruct your browser to block cookies; some features that rely on session storage may not work correctly if cookies are disabled entirely.

Because JurisAid relies on cloud infrastructure and AI providers that operate globally, your personal data may be processed in countries outside Nigeria. When this happens, we take steps to ensure your data receives a comparable level of protection through provider security commitments, encryption, and access controls. By using JurisAid, you acknowledge that such transfers may occur as described in this policy.

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
• Withdraw consent for optional processing (analytics cookies, promotional emails).
• Object to processing based on legitimate interest where applicable.
• Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), the supervisory authority under NDPR.

How to exercise your rights:

• Clear analysis history: Settings > Data & Storage > Purge History.
• Opt out of promotional emails: Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or email us directly.
• Decline analytics: Choose Decline on our cookie banner, or enable Privacy Mode during a session.
• Delete your account: Email [email protected] with your account email. We will respond within 30 days and delete your account data unless we are required to retain it by law.
